Privacy Policy for Donu

Donu is designed to keep your task data private and to minimize data sharing.

Information Stored on Your Device

Your categories, tasks, chat history, and most app data are stored locally on your device using Apple technologies such as SwiftData.

iCloud Sync

If you are signed into iCloud, Donu uses CloudKit to sync your categories and tasks across your devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Information Sent Off Device

AI Chat Features

If you use Donu’s AI chat or AI-assisted features, the app sends the content required to process your request to our backend services hosted with Firebase Functions. This may include:

• your message to Donu
• recent chat history
• relevant task and category context needed to answer or perform requested actions

This information is sent only to provide the AI functionality you request.

Analytics

Donu uses Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized, aggregated data about how features are used. This helps us understand which features are valuable and improve the app. We collect events such as:

• which screens are visited
• whether the AI chat feature is used and how often
• which AI actions are performed (e.g., creating a task or category)

This data is not used for advertising, behavioral profiling, or sold to third parties.

In-App Purchases

Donu offers an optional Pro subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information. Apple’s privacy policy governs payment data.

Permissions

Donu may request access to:

• Notifications, to send task reminders and proactive alerts from Donu
• Photos (add-only), only when you choose to export or save shared content

These permissions are optional and are only used for the related feature.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use your data for advertising targeting.
When you use AI features, necessary data is processed by our service providers, including Firebase/Google infrastructure, solely to operate the feature.
Analytics data collected through Firebase Analytics is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

Chat history is stored locally in the app and automatically cleared daily.
Data sent to backend services is processed to serve your request and is not retained beyond what is required to operate the service.
Analytics data is retained according to Firebase Analytics default settings (up to 14 months).

Children’s Privacy

Donu is not intended to collect personal information from children knowingly. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can review the issue.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the updated effective date above.
